UYP Summer Courses
University for Young People
Students need not be formally identified as gifted to attend. They do not need to apply to participate in the program. These week-long classes meet from 8:30-3:30 daily and include lunch. University for Young People is designed for students who will be entering 1st-3rd grade in the Fall.
Courses offered through UYP are designed to foster gifted students’ critical and creative thinking skills. Curriculum at this level typically relies on a creative problem-solving framework, which involves defining a problem within a specific scenario, brainstorming ideas for solving it, and collaborating with others to implement and analyze the solutions. Through these activities, students develop key skills (such as critical analysis, idea generation, flexible thinking, effective communication, leadership, and teamwork) that are necessary for future academic success.
A 25% nonrefundable deposit is due at registration, and there are several payment plans available. Students who register for more than one class and families who register more than one student are eligible for a 10% discount. Please note that the enrollments must occur as part of the same transaction in order for the registration system to apply the discount.
